Bell’s Special Double Cream stout
Bell’s Special Double Cream stout – 6.1% Alc by Vol
1 pint bottle. I don't know where it was from or the price - a friend offered me a glass.
It had a very creamy smell with a most unique taste. The only taste that I could relate it to is going to come across as very negative. Not the initial taste or even on the swallow, but on the lips afterward, you are left with a sour cream taste. It is very peculiar to have a beer tart and creamy, and this beer definitely did it.
It is not my favorite beer, and I can recommend many more before this one. However, in no way is it a bad beer with its dark color and hearty stout taste. The stout is there, so if you are wanting to try a new kind of stout then pick this one up.

Peroni
Peroni Nastro Azzurro - 5.1% Alc by Vol
12 oz bottle. Six pack is approximately $9 from Cost Plus
Italian imported brew.
Since most people (including myself) have had a Heineken at one time in their life, it is easy to use as a comparison for Peroni. The inital taste is nearly the same and Heineken, but with a less bitter finish. At the same time though, there is a less flavor overall. By the third sip it is closer to water than to beer. Therefore, this is not my favorite or even close to one I would purchase. It is for those beer drinkers who enjoy just a tiny bit of beer taste, carbonation, and the effects from beer. If you enjoy a beer that even stimulates your taste buds, I would not recommend this one.
My sister had just turned 21 and she bought a six pack of this and saved one for me since she knew that I was writing this journal. We drank it at her birthday dinner.
Smoked Porter
Smoked Porter - 6.5% Alc by Vol
1 pt from BevMo approximately $7
Alaskan Brew
It is a dark and smooth liquid with a creamy head. I know this next comment it going to throw some off, but the first taste had me saying "bacon?". Apparently, this company grows their malts for the beer in a smokehouse. The first taste borders overwhelming, but the rest of the beer is smooth and delicious. By the second sip, the smokiness serves as a fulfilling backdrop.
This beer was a gift from Philip and we drank it on his patio during a lovely summer evening.
Newcastle
Newcastle Brown Ale- 4.7% Alc by Vol
English brew. Drank some of my parents' stash that they buy in bulk from Costco.
Dark amber color with an average head. It is slightly malty and slightly bitter, but has a definite taste that isn't bad. However, with Newcastle, I am quite aware and I know of its taste (basically, if there is nothing better, I will drink an occasional Newcastle). It has a prestigious taste for the dollar value, but it falls short for any sort of intricate taste.
This specific entry was written after Philip and I drank more than a few beers, so it tasted pretty good. We watched a few movies and simply relaxed with a beer that was not something completely nasty.
Victory 12
Victory 12 (or V12)- "Liquid Luxury" - 12% Alc by Vol
1 pint bottle from BevMo - $8.79
The first noticeable trait was definitely the large thick head while pouring, and then a strong amber coloring. The first taste was deliciously strong and quite malty. However, even though it was malty, there was not an overpowering bitterness. Basically, the best way that I could describe it was being a beer that had every taste you want in beer magnetized. The swallow is smooth with a nutty exhale.
Philip and I bought this by me telling him to pick a number between 1 and 50, and I counted 34 from the left side of the shelf in Bevmo and we came up with this. We watched Whip It (great movie) and drank this.
Blue Moon
Blue Moon - 5.4% Alc by Vol
12 oz bottle from a 6 pack. On sale for $6.99 at BevMo
Belgian Wheat Ale
The first thought and taste is citrus (orange specifically). It is a light and sweet beer with very low bitterness. If oranges are available, I would definitely take the time to slice one and put a slice in the beer. On the tongue between sips you are still enjoying a light and not so overpowering beer.
I drank this with my boyfriend, Philip, on the first day that I got back from a week in Hawaii. We both wanted a familiar beer to relax and enjoy a movie with.
